A fun introduction to T-ball for ages 3–5!
What is Blastball?
Blastball is an excellent introduction to T-ball and baseball for young players. It features a base that makes a distinctive “HONK!” sound when kids jump on it. The game is fast-paced and full of action, making it ideal for young children’s shorter attention spans.
Blastball is played on the grass with the use of the diamond in moderate rotation; it teaches fundamental skills such as hitting, throwing, and fielding while also emphasizing the importance of teamwork and sportsmanship.
How is the game played?
- two teams of 5 to 8 players each take turns batting and fielding, similar to T-Ball and baseball.
- Each player gets a turn at bat.
- After hitting the ball off a batting tee, players run to the blast base and jump on it to make a distinctive “HONK!”
- When a fielder stops the ball, they hold it high and shout, “BLAST!”
- If the fielder yells “BLAST!” before the batter makes the “HONK” on the base, the batter is out. If the batter reaches the base first, they score a run!
